Privacy Policy

In short: Wavecast connects your Android phone directly to your own computer over your local network. Your screen, audio and input go only to the computer you paired, end-to-end encrypted. We have no servers that receive your data, no accounts, no ads and no analytics.
Who we are
Wavecast ("the app") is made by Valon Hajredini. This policy covers the Wavecast Android app and the Wavecast desktop apps for macOS and Windows. Contact: hajredini.valon@gmail.com.
What the app accesses, and why
- Your screen (screen capture). When you start sharing and accept Android's screen-sharing prompt, the app encodes your screen as video and sends it to the computer you paired, so you can see your phone there. Sharing stops when you tap Stop, lock the phone or quit the app. Android shows a notification and status bar indicator for the whole session.
- Device audio (optional). If you turn on "Play audio on computer", the app captures the sound other apps play (Android's audio playback capture) and sends it to your paired computer. It does not use the microphone. Android asks for the audio-recording permission because playback capture requires it.
- Accessibility service "Wavecast Control" (optional). If you turn it on, your paired computer can tap, swipe, scroll, type into the field you selected, and press Back, Home and Recents on your phone. The service only acts on input you send from your own computer while a sharing session is running. It does not read, store or send the content of your screen, it does not type passwords or unlock your phone, and it does nothing when you are not sharing. You can turn it off at any time in Android's Accessibility settings.
- Local network. The app finds computers on your Wi-Fi (mDNS) and connects to them directly. Your device name and model are shown to the computer you pair with.
- Screen brightness (optional). "Dim this phone" changes your phone's brightness while you mirror, and restores it afterwards.
- Notifications. Used for the ongoing sharing notification, which has a Stop button.
Where your data goes
Everything above goes only to the computer you paired, directly over your local network. The connection is end-to-end encrypted (Noise protocol), and pairing requires you to confirm the same 6-digit code on both devices. Nothing passes through our servers or any third-party server, and the video, audio and input are not recorded or saved by the app on either device.
What is stored on your devices
To reconnect without a new code, each device keeps a device key and a list of the devices you trusted. On Android these are stored in the app's private storage, encrypted with an Android Keystore key. On macOS they are kept in the Keychain, and on Windows in the Credential Manager. Your style choice and settings are stored locally too. Uninstalling the app, or tapping Forget for a device, removes them.
What we do not do
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- No analytics, tracking, advertising or advertising IDs.
- No crash reporting or other data sent to us or to third parties.
- We do not sell or share personal data, because we never receive any.
Children
Wavecast is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13.
